After pursuing my bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics at Arizona State University, I went on to pursue my Master’s in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages at ASU as well. With a strong background in language acquisition and curriculum development, I strive to create engaging and effective learning experiences for my students. Over the years, I have developed comprehensive lesson plans and educational materials that cater to diverse learning styles and needs across a variety of contexts and age groups.
The purpose of education is a continuum of informing and performing between students and teachers. The specialized coherent exchange of information between a student and a teacher is what enables proficient communicative abilities. To develop communicative competency is to become aware of the context in which students will be using English and their personal goals associated with their learning trajectory whether it is intrinsically academically driven or extrinsic socio-cultural acclimation.
Distinguished English teachers are those who can intricately foster a student-centered classroom in which the focus of language learning is on students’ performance related to the main functions of language acquisition such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
My goal in the classroom is to make it enjoyable and seamless to communicate ideas, thoughts, and feelings with the appropriate simulations of naturalistic settings to develop fluency. This can be seen in activities such as role-play exercises and jigsaw tasks in which students have to work together to draw on their semiotic resources and use their pre-existing knowledge to fulfill a certain communicative task.
